About the program

Hey! Mr. McCormick here. I'm a high school math teacher in North County and a UC Berkeley alum, and I've always seen the opportunity to pair math-minded Berkeley students with families looking for math support. With a master's in math education and 10+ years of tutoring experience, I'm equipped to hand-pick and personally train every tutor in the program. While I no longer tutor myself, I stay involved to make sure every student and tutor are a great match and the relationship is thriving.

Our goal: find and close learning gaps, uncover the why behind every problem, and teach students how to think, not just memorize.

How it works

  1. 1

Tell me about your student and what they're working on.

  2. 2

I match them with the tutor I think is the best fit.

  3. 3

You work directly with your tutor on scheduling and remote sessions, with the same tutor all year.

  4. 4

I stay in the background to make sure it's going well.

Your tutors

Every tutor is a current UC Berkeley student and a strong math student, currently taking or recently finished demanding college-level math courses. I train each one to tutor effectively so they can manage the relationship and ensure students are getting the most out of every session.

Nathaniel Seale

2nd year · Econ

Hi, my name's Nate, and I'm a second-year at UC Berkeley studying Economics. I'm from Sacramento, just joined Berkeley's club beach volleyball team, and started playing intramural ultimate frisbee. I enjoy board games like Catan and Rummikub and have always been interested in game theory.

Antonio, tutor

Antonio

3rd year · Data Science & Econ

Hey, my name's Antonio, and I'm a third-year at UC Berkeley double majoring in Data Science and Economics. I grew up in D.C. and I'm happiest when I'm cooking or playing soccer. Statistics is my strongest subject, and I love breaking a hard problem down into simple building blocks.

Jonathan, tutor

Jonathan

Hey, my name's Jonathan, and I'm a second-year at UC Berkeley double majoring in Data Science and Political Economy.
